Lewisham Migration Stories

Initiated and funded by Lewisham’s Race and Equalities steering group. Reminiscence sessions with Grandparents of children in Lewisham schools have inspired and informed ‘A Place for Me’: our new performance. The performance brings together the stories of elders who travelled to Lewisham from the Caribbean in the 1960’s .

Reminiscence at Knights Academy.

Inspired by ‘A Place for Me”, the children in 10 Lewisham schools work with one of our drama practitioners in collaboration with their class teachers to devise their own Lewisham Migration Story. The resulting performance is then performed to parents and carers in the schools.

Some quotes from teachers about ‘A Place for Me’:

“such a memorable day”

“pitched perfectly for the children”

“powerful performance – an incredible project”
