In addition to being Joint Creative Director of Peoplescape, Emily enjoys her role of Maker with the company; large effect props, costume, puppets and multi-sensory storytelling cloths have been the order of the day so far!
Emily is also an award-winning scriptwriter and published children’s author with 38 scripts & stories commissioned and performed at museums across the country. She has also facilitated training, presented at conferences and worked (as a writer, facilitator, director and creative consultant) in Sweden, Denmark, Greece, USA, Northern Ireland and Isle of Man.
Having held a strong interest in Alison’s work with London Bubble Theatre for many years, Emily is thrilled to now be a creative practitioner with the Speech Bubbles project in a primary school in Wythenshawe, Manchester.
Emily’s previous work as a counsellor for Childline, facilitator for Learning Disabilities – Manchester Advocacy Project and a member of the community development team for Age Concern Stockport informed her commitment to enabling and inspiring the people with whom she is working creatively.
Recently Emily was Lead Creative Practitioner and Project Manager for ‘Finding Our First World War’, enabling four groups of children and young people (including teenagers with SEN and children from families seeking asylum) to create performances for the opening of the high-profile temporary exhibition at IWM North (part of the Imperial War Museums Group).
Building on the success of ‘Welcome to Cottonopolis’ (funded by the National Lottery), Emily intends to submit a grant application later for a new project which will include Labyrinth theatre created by young people with SEN… and puppets.
Emily is based in Manchester. http://www.emilycapstick.co.uk
